One click image correction

A very fast way to correct color and contrast of an image is using the one click corrections.

 selection menu

The following corrections are available:

Black point:

Click on a dark point in the image and this point is set to black. With this correction you make the shadows darker and you neutralise any color cast in the shadows

White point:

Click on a point in the image which should be white. This correction will correct any color cast in the highlights and increase the contrast in the highlights.

Set min:

Click on a dark point in the image. Set min will now lower the luminance of that point without changing the color balance. You can like this increase contrast in the shadows without the danger of changing the color balance of the image.

Set max:

Click on a bright point in the image and the luminance of this point will be increased to the maximum luminance without clipping any colors. You can for example click on a bright leave of a yellow flower and increase the luminance of the yellow without clip any color channel.

The set max is very good for images which may not have neutral colors in the highlights.

Set gray:

Click on any medium color which should be neutral and the software will automatically calculate the good values for the red, green and blue sliders so that the image is neutral.

Keep correction:

If this box is checked then loading a new image will not reset previous corrections. You can use this for example if you correct a set of images with a similar color cast. Try the best correction settings on the first two or three images, check “keep corrections” and then process the whole folder with images automatically.

Resetting the corrections:

The “set gray” is the only operation which will not need a reset. You can just try and click on different places in the image and you will always see the actual correction.

White and black point and also set min and max will alter the image and if you usi it a second time it will work on the altered image. Here you would have to click on the “reset corrections” button to go back in the original image state.

Clipping:

Always click on the brightest or darkest point to avoid that colors are clipped in other points. The algorithm to set max or min is mad so that the color you click on will not be clipped. Set max will only move the highest color component of that point to 255 and not the luminance. So if you click for example on a yellow leave of a flower which has the colors:

R230 G220 B110 -> set max -> R255 G245 B135

This way the colors are not clipped
