Version history

V 3.0.06

Bug fix: noise removal was not applied when saving the image with previous version

V 3.0.05

Bug fix: the last version sometimes did not start if Image Editor found an old licence on the PC

V 3.0.04

Several new RAW file formats (Nikon D30 and D300 ...) added.

New edge preserving noise removal added (beta implementation)

Bug fix: the last versions always wanted a major upgrade of the licence even if the software was started for the first time in test mode.

V 3.0.02

Several new RAW file formats added.

New licencing system. Now Upgrades are no longer free. Sorry everybody. But after some years we did finally some small progress in marketing.

V 2.5.7

Bug fix: Red eye removal sometimes did only work in preview but not when saved. Image Editor checks the Exif tags and only uses red eye removal with images which have the flash fired and an exposure time longer then 1/200 seconds.

Upgrade: The software has been upgraded to the latest PolyImagePro V2.28 dll and Canon RAW SDK 2.1. This allows to open some RAW formats from recent cameras.

V 2.5.6

Bug fix: The image marker field is now editable. bevore it was locked

V 2.5.5

Bug fix: Some RAW files have EXIF block sizes which are bigger then the 64kb which are allowed for JPEG files. Rather then not save EXIF info at all, Image Editor now deletes the Exif MakerNote, which can be very big. All other Exif info is saved to the jpeg file.

V 2.5.4

Bug fix: Now also processes Canon D30 RAW files

Added: Possibility to set output folder=input folder with a check box

V 2.5.2

Bug fix: some buttons moved when you set the display to another dpi resolution

V 2.5.1

Bug fix: Several sliders had no effect

V 2.5.0

There is now a fully automatic red eye removal function integrated in image editor

Possibility to correct general density (gamma) or selective shadow or highlight density. The density correction which was a normal gamma function has been replaced with an S-tipe gamma curve which lets you tune gamma seperately in the shadows and in the highlights,

Faster screen update when using the mouse wheel for manual density or color correction

possibility to add a string to the image name to show that an image has been enhanced

V 2.3

4.                                       16 bit Raw support: Image Editor supports now al major RAW file types like Nikon NEF, Canon CRW or CR2, Fuji RAF and also native RAW

5.                                       New file load format support: Image Editor now supports nearly 46 different formats from 1 (black white) to 16 bits (RAW files) per channel image formats.

6.                                       New save formats: Image Editor now saves Jpeg, Jpeg2000, Tiff uncompressed, Tiff LZW, Tiff ZIP and BMP files. EXIF and IPTC tags will be saved for Jpeg, Jpeg2000 and Tiff

7.                                       Image rotation: You can now rotate and mirror your images

8.                                       New one click image correction - The following one click corrections are now available:
Black point:
Click on a dark point in the image and this point is set to black. With this correction you make the shadows darker and you neutralise any color cast in the shadows
White point:
Click on a point in the image which should be white. This correction will correct any color cast in the highlights and increase the contrast in the highlights.
Set min:
Click on a dark point in the image. Set min will now lower the luminance of that point without changing the color balance. You can like this increase contrast in the shadows without the danger of changing the color balance of the image.
Set max:
Click on a bright point in the image and the luminance of this point will be increased to the maximum luminance without clipping any colors. You can for example click on a bright leave of a yellow flower and increase the luminance of the yellow without clip any color channel.
The set max is very good for images which may not have neutral colors in the highlights.
Set gray:
Click on any medium color which should be neutral and the software will automatically calculate the good values for the red, green and blue sliders so that the image is neutral.

9.                                       Black&white and sepia: You can now produce black and white images from color images. If you check this option and you add the black&white images some reddish and yellowish colour then you can produce sepia images from normal color images.

10.                                   Input ICC profiling: Image editor now fully supports input ICC profiling

11.                                   Reading of embedded profiles: Embedded ICC profiles can be applied automatically

13.                                   Defining input folder: It is now possible to define default input folders so that Image Editor will not start always on the sample_images folder

14.                                   Channels set folder paths: It is now possible to switch of that changing channels will automatically change the in- and output folders

15.                                   Duplicate input folder name: It is now possible to save images in the output folder inside a subfolder defined by the current input folder name. This way you can have orders organized in folders on the input side and they will be saved in the same folders on the output side.

16.                                   Saving originals: You can automatically save the original images in your output folder. The original images will be placed inside a “originals” subfolder.

17.                                   New manual settings menu: There is a new menu with parameters which you currently have to change in the main window. This menu is organized in 3 register cards for i2e image enhancement settings, contrast and saturation and preprocessing settings for RAW formats.

18.                                   Shadow desaturation: There is a new parameter which allows to reduce to strong saturations without affecting for example the normal saturation in bright zones. This way for example bright skin tones are not to much desaturated.
